KAHLILA WILLIAMS SCHOLARSHIP AWARD

This is a $500 scholarship that will be awarded to one system-impacted youth (see below) who has overcome barriers. This scholarship is named after Kahlila Williams, a youth activist in LA who has had her own experiences with the Foster Care/ Child Welfare System. She has dedicated her time to the liberation of her people and will continue her work. The goal of this scholarship is to award a scholar who has excelled throughout high school despite often crushing adversity- and to attend and graduate from college. The student will use the scholarship funds to pay for college tuition or other education expenses.

DEADLINE TO APPLY: June 15th, 2023

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA: 

◦ GPA of 2.0 or higher.

◦ Accepted or enrolled into a post-secondary school.

◦ Committed to Social Justice Work.

◦ Been system impacted:

◦ Child welfare system/Foster Care System

◦ Immigration (undocumented)

◦ Criminal Justice/ Legal System (formerly incarcerated)

MORE ABOUT KAHLILA

Kahlila is a student at UCLA who has been recognized in People Magazin'e’s “Girls Changing the World" 2020”. She has written for USA Today, been featured on Netflix’s “Good Trouble” and in several social justice documentaries. She is a member of Black Lives Matter LA Youth Vanguard and Students Deserve LA. She was the first student to receive Project KnuckleHead’s Freedom Scholarship.
